Fighting against opponent Chris Oxley for three, 2 minute rounds of light heavyweight (87-89kg) full contact kickboxing, Salter out-classed local man Oxley. Round one saw Oxley go down for an eight count after taking a heavy uppercut to the jaw from Salter, then to go down again after he had recovered. Laura Parker's PKA Kickboxing
Weight Loss Triumph

PKA-Kickboxing Market Harborough student Laura Parker has won the war against weight gain. After transforming her diet and doing exercise she enjoys, the results speak for themselves.

After giving up the sweets and chocolates that so many children enjoy and embarking on Kickboxing at her local PKA class, she is now a slimmer, healthier, happier and more confident person.

Enrolling at her local MEND programme—a 10-week course in developing healthy eating habits and promoting exercise, she choose kickboxing as one of the main physical activities to try...

With Laura's mum working, it was Nan, Margaret who was able to take Laura to both the MEND after-school programme and regular PKA Kickboxing lessons.

Over the weeks with a change to eating healthier foods and lots of activity, she has  avoided obesity, given herself a huge boost in confidence and had a lot of fun in the process!

So often we hear about how kids nowadays are so inactive —Laura is a wonderful example to other children and adults that just a couple of small changes in your life can make huge gains in your health and overall wellness.

We all sincerely commend Laura and her brilliant achievement. Well done.

MTV's solution to a bully—
throw them in with a cage fighter!
Bully Beatdown causes a stir

What do you do with a bully? Well, as sweet revenge MTV puts a bully in with a professional cage fighter! You can guess the bully gets quite a dose of their own medicine!

Hugely popular and not without its controversy, Bully Beatdown is an American reality show hosted by professional mixed martial artist Jason "Mayhem" Miller. Known bullies get their comeuppance when they are challenged to fight a pro cage fighter.

If the bully beats the pro fighter they get $10,000 - if they lose (and all have but one - not surprisingly!) the bullies victims get the money.

The rules are two, three minute rounds with the first round consisting of grappling only (no striking). Round two is full-on kickboxing.

The series is into its second season now drawing huge viewing figures. Not surprising when the entertainment value is seeing the bully get quite a demonstration on what it feels like being on the other end of things...

You can see all the action here. UK viewers will have to wait until MTV shows the series on British shores, but the web is full of the actual fights.

Nationals Full Contact Match

In a very special full contact match, Ash Bray from Hinckley took on Ivan Malinka from Leicester in 3, 2-minute rounds of full contact sport kickboxing.

Both fighters fought exceptionally well, neither giving his opponent an easy time. The first round saw an equal point score with Ash mounting a very strong attack on Ivan, only to see Ivan coming back with equal force.

It was only through the second and third rounds that Ivan's power started to edge over Ash's phenomenal speed. With a points win, Ivan took victory - well done Ivan. Both fighters showed great technique, real courage and determination; a fantastic match.
